Conservative dentistry is a field of dentistry that deals with the treatment of teeth affected by caries in various degrees. Tissue preparation allows to maintain the vitality of the teeth, their full functionality and aesthetic appearance.
In our Baltic Ortho Clinic, you can benefit from modern conservative dentistry treatments performed by a team of experienced specialists.
One of the basic fields of dentistry, the main task of which is to eliminate the effects of caries, i.e. the most common tooth disease. In its course, cariogenic bacteria living in the mouth feed on food residues not removed during tooth brushing. The effect of microbial metabolism are acids that weaken the enamel and thus bacteria can penetrate into the tooth tissues and destroy them, causing cavities.
As part of conservative dentistry, carious cavities are treated in order to inhibit further tissue degeneration by bacteria, maintain vitality, full functionality and aesthetics of the teeth.
Conservative dentistry at the Baltic Ortho Clinic is a series of treatments, thanks to which you can cure caries and protect yourself from its unpleasant consequences.
Healing dressing – is a type of temporary filling with healing properties, which is put on the patient until the final healing and filling of the teeth. It is most often used when the tooth requires long-term treatment, e.g. root canal treatment. In conservative dentistry, healing dressings are usually used in the case of deep caries, which almost reaches the tooth pulp. The preparation of the cavity then carries the risk of exposing the nerve and root canal treatment – the dentist can try to save the tooth from this with a medical dressing that protects the inside of the tooth against external factors, supports the remineralization of the dentin and has a bactericidal and aseptic effect.
Composite veneers with the bonding technique – flow injection – are a solution on the border of conservative dentistry, prosthetics and aesthetic dentistry, allowing for precise and predictable reconstruction of teeth and improvement of their shape and color by making restorations with a special composite material. Veneers are made by a technician based on traditional prosthetic impressions or an intraoral scan. The advantage of the bonding method – flow injection – is its lower cost compared to porcelain or all-ceramic veneers, immediate effects and less invasiveness for the patient (no need to grind the teeth).
Tooth filling – is a basic conservative dentistry procedure, in which the dentist prepares the carious cavity (removes the infected tissue and thoroughly cleans the tooth), and then performs the filling, restoring full functionality and aesthetics of the masticatory system. Composite fillings are the most commonly used in modern dentistry – they provide good cosmetic effects, are durable and resistant.

It allows to save teeth even deeply infected by caries, and thus – maintain the full aesthetics and functionality of the masticatory system. It is worth remembering, however, that the sooner carious cavities are detected, the less invasive the treatment is for the patient.
