Implanty zębowe

What is implantology?

The lack of even one natural tooth is both a health and aesthetic problem. It can cause problems with eating – biting and chewing, which in turn has a negative effect on the functioning of the digestive system. Tooth gaps cause the loss of stability of the adjacent teeth, their loosening and change of position. In addition, tooth gaps disturb the aesthetics of the smile, which can be the cause of complexes and low self-esteem. That is why it is so important to supplement the deficiencies in natural teeth – modern implantology allows for this. You can benefit from comprehensive implantological treatment in our Baltic Ortho Clinic.

IMPLANTOLOGY – IMPLANTOLOGICAL TREATMENT STEP BY STEP

Although modern implantology provides excellent functional and aesthetic effects, you must be aware that implantological treatment is a multi-stage process that takes time. At the Baltic Ortho Clinic, we offer patients comprehensive care and a treatment plan tailored to individual needs!

INITIAL CONSULTATION

An introduction to implantological treatment is a consultation with a specialist – the doctor conducts a basic examination of the patient’s oral cavity, assesses the health of the teeth, and, if necessary, prescribes conservative treatment – it is worth remembering that before implanting the implants, possible cavities and periodontitis should be cured.

RADIOLOGICAL DIAGNOSTICS

Radiological diagnostics is a key element in qualifying a patient for implantological treatment. It allows to assess the bone structure within the craniofacial region and the quality of bone tissue in the area of the planned implant. The basic radiological examination before implant treatment is a panoramic X-ray. Sometimes CBCT and bone densitometry may be additionally ordered.

MAXILLARY SINUS FLOOR ELEVATION/ BONE AUGMENTATION

If the amount and/or quality of the bone tissue in the place of the planned implant is insufficient (this may happen, for example, when a tooth was lost some time ago and bone atrophy occurred in this place), one can try to improve the bone conditions necessary for successful implantation. At the Baltic Ortho Clinic, we do it in two ways. The first is the bone augmentation procedure, i.e. supplementing the cavities in the patient’s mandible/maxilla bones, the second – maxillary sinus floor elevation, i.e. inserting bone replacement material under the mucous membrane lining the maxillary sinus.

IMPLANT PLACEMENT

If the amount/quality of the bone tissue is appropriate or after the preparatory procedure, the doctor can proceed to the main stage of treatment, i.e. implant placement. The procedure is of course performed under anesthesia – the dentist incises the soft tissues, slightly drills the bone and “screws” the implant into it. After the implantation site is treated, the process of osseointegration, i.e. the fusion of the implant with the bone, begins. Depending on the individual predisposition of the patient, it takes up to 3-4 months. During this time, the patient uses a temporary prosthesis.

PROSTHETIC TREATMENT

After the implant fuses with the bone, an abutment is placed on it, and then the final stage, i.e. prosthetic treatment, is carried out. Depending on the patient’s individual needs, it can be a single prosthetic crown, a prosthetic bridge or a prosthesis on implants.

The entire implant treatment can last up to six months – excellent effects, however, reward this time!

IMPLANTOLOGY – WHY IS IT WORTH TO CHOOSE TOOTH IMPLANTS?

Implantology is one of the most dynamically developing fields of dentistry, and implants allow to perfectly replace lost roots of natural teeth. What are the benefits of implantological treatment for patients?

  • Dental implants are made of titanium – a substance that is mechanically very durable. Studies have shown that dental implants can replace a tooth root for up to 50 years!
  • Titanium is a substance that is completely biologically neutral to the body. Within a dozen or so weeks, the implant fuses with the bone, does not cause allergies, is not treated as a foreign body by the body. It also does not react chemically with the ingredients of food and oral hygiene products.
  • Implantology provides excellent functional and aesthetic effects. The tooth rebuilt in this way normally participates in the processes of biting and chewing food, it is also indistinguishable from the patient’s own teeth.
